Waivered Services and Rates
The following is a list of MR/RC waiver services. Each service has a maximum rate allowed by
DHS- the “cap”. However counties must
contract for these services and set rates.
The client must use the county contracted rates.
A. HABILITATIVE SERVICES*:
Person
must receive at least one of these or be receiving a habilitative (skill
building) service from another resource such as the caregiver, etc. That resource must be documented in the ISP.
1.
Day Training and Habilitation* - Cap for full day rate is provider specific.
*In order to access this
service, person must also have a residential service: Respite, In Home Family Support, or Homemaker Service.
2.
In home Family Support - Cap is $29.82 per half hour. *Is a residential service.
3.
Supported Employment – Cap is $17.89 per half hour, $83.48
partial day, $103.74 full day.
*Definition of Habilitative Services: Health and
social services directed toward increasing and maintaining the physical,
intellectual, emotional, and social functioning of persons with mental
retardation or related conditions.
Habilitation services include therapeutic activities, assistance,
training, supervision, and monitoring in the areas of self-care, sensory and
motor development, interpersonal skills, communication, socialization,
reduction or elimination of maladaptive behavior, community living and
mobility, health care, leisure and recreation, money management, and household
chores.
B. OTHER MR/RC WAIVER SERVICES: Persons living in their family home can access:
1.
Adult Day Care - Cap is $65.60 per day. The contracted rates vary by program .
2.
Assistive Technology - Cap is $2,385.19 per item.
3.
Caregiver Training/Education – No cap. To use this service the primary caregiver cannot
be employed by a corporation to provide supervision and care for the person.
4.
Chore Services - Cap is $6.44/half hour.
5.
Environmental Modifications/Adaptations - Cap per item is $11,925.
6.
Homemaker Services - Cap is $4.44/quarter hour. Must use a contracted vendor.
*Is a residential service.
7.
PCA/PCA Choice Services - Cap is $3.73/quarter hour. The contracted rate is the same as the cap rate. Check with agency as many agencies will add
$594/year for RN Supervision. List of contracted vendors is available. Must have a home care assessment
conducted by county PHN.
8.
Personal Supports Daily - Cap is $119.27/day.
Does NOT require a license.
Variable rates. Parents of
Minors cannot be paid.
Parents/Guardians of adults can be paid as long as they are not being
paid for guardianship services.
Personal Supports means non-medical care.
9.
Personal Supports Hourly - Cap is $29.82/hour. Does NOT require a license. Parents
of Minors cannot be paid.
Parents/Guardians of adults can be paid as long as they are not being
paid for guardianship services.
Personal Supports means non-medical care.
10.
Respite Service, In-home - Cap is $29.82/half hour
or $298.15/day. Provider must be 245B licensed and have a
contract with the county. *Is a
residential service.
11.
Respite, Out-of Home - Caps are $11.92/half hour or , $298.15/day. Rates vary.
This service can be provided by a licensed or unlicensed provider. *Is a residential service.
12. Specialist Service - Cap is $119.27/hour. Must NOT be ongoing support. Must be a contracted vendor.
13. Transportation- Extended - Cap is $35.08 per
trip. Note: trips to medical
appointments are to be reimbursed by State Plan MA. Parents of minors may not be paid mileage.
14. 24-hour Emergency
Assistance – Caps are $23.85/hour or $53.66/day.
